A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada (1896–1977) was an Indian spiritual teacher, translator, and author best known as the founder of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON). His writings and translations introduced millions worldwide to the philosophy of bhakti-yoga and the teachings of Lord Krishna. In 1965, at the age of 69, he traveled to the United States, where he began teaching Krishna consciousness and Founded ISKCON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness) in 1966 in New York City.
